Is there a rule of thumb for dress shirt sizing?

I've taken my chest (across widest part) and waist (~8in below armhole) measurements and I'm wondering how much to add in when comparing to dress shirt sizing tables online?

If I measure a 45 chest, 41 mid-waist and 38 lower waist, how many inches should I add into each to ensure comfort (ie, 45+5 means I ought to be looking for a shirt with a 50in chest measurment)?

Why don't you just try some on and measure the chest size of the one that fits you?
