Hi!

I usually stick to the MC side, but I've got a question about a pair of jeans and I thought that it would be best addressed here on the SW&D side of things.

But first:

  • Yes. I have tried Google and Google Images to find the answer. I was unsuccessful.
  • Yes. I have posted about it in the thread(s) to which I am a regular contributer to find the answer. I was unsuccessful.
  • Yes. I searched styleforum to find the answer. I was unsuccessful.
  • Yes. I have posted about it in the thread on the SW&D side which I thought would be most appropriate to find the answer. I was unsuccessful.

With that said, I found what I think are BNWOT Marc Jacobs Mainline jeans at a thrift store for $6.99.

Here is the pertinent portion of my original post about the jeans from the Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread:

^^^ Here is a detail of the inside of the cuff. Also, they are marked as being made in Macau.

My questions are:

  1. Are they real or fake?
  2. If they are real, when did they come out (I cannot find anything currently being offered by Marc Jacobs Mainline that is similar)?
  3. How much did they originally retail for?

I would like to thank whoever reads this for taking the time to do so and to double-thank anyone who might be able to help answer my questions.

Something about that tag says fake to me, but I can't place it. Where were they made (any mainline Marc Jacobs should be Italian or American made)? Seems more likely to be MarcxMarc to me if not outright fakes

I'm not a Marc Jacobs expert but here's my take...

They're not fake. I certainly don't know this for sure but no one would really fake Marc Jacobs jeans let alone raw ones and let alone do it to this detail. Basically if you have fake jeans you wouldn't need to ask us to know because they butcher them 99.9999% of the time.

That said, I've never seen Marc Jacobs mainline that weren't made in Italy. My guess is these are just a cheaper non-selvage version of your typical Marc Jacobs jeans or Marc x Marc with a different tag.

Hey guys!

I wanted to thank you all for your insights. I ended up walking to the Marc Jacobs store on Newbury St. today and did a little investigation in person. It turns out that the jeans I found are their "Special Item" jeans that are available in all Marc Jacobs stores. I found out that not all of his stores sell mainline merchandise (the closest one to me is in NYC. His "Special Item" jeans retail for $78. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but still not bad for jeans I picked up for $6.99.

Mainline Marc is actually pretty hard to find these days. Still want some nutria-lined pieces from FW10
