Hi there,

I am going to Shanghai next week. I have one tailored suite from MaoMing road before.

My problem is, I do not know how to properly judge the fit! I will be there for 4 days, then again 4 days one week later. so it's perfect for getting a suite made.

What questions should i ask??
what style should i get? DB? How should it fit?

I am 6ft2, slim, mid 20s and pretty damn good looking

ps, i'm considering having a coat tailor too. good idea??

Substitute 'Shanghai' for 'Saigon' and we have the same reason I joined here all those years ago.

Suggest as a first port of call, cruise around the what are you wearing today threads, you will get a pretty good idea of what people around here like to see from a fit and styling point of view.

I'm glad i'm not the only one

I've been reading the forums for some weeks now and have picked up some tips. I wondered if perhaps someone had written an entire 'guide' i have missed out on

Looking forward to making some more posts on styleforum

Hello and welcome,

There is no guide and there are so many different styles. But there are some books. I think 'dressing the man' and 'A celebration of style'.

Are you sure to start with a DB?

Waiting for more posts and pictures then.

Yours

I think this is a decent treatment on the subject of proper fit of a suit. At least it's a place to start.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
