Is there a Brioni only thread or group on the Forum?

Hello Fellas!

I have a question about a Brioni item I am pretty crazy about...and I was hoping to ask it in a Brioni specific thread or group here on the forum, but then I noticed that we apparently don't have a Brioni specific thread. Am I right or is there really no such thread/group?

Brioni just like Kiton, Tom ford or zegna is not really represented on this forum because it offers rather poor bang for your buck. Not to say it’s bad at all but at the Brioni RTW prices you can easily buy full bespoke Solito or other Neapolitan or even most Savile row tailors.

Start a Brioni specific thread and see if others are interested and could help you.
Or just Ask your question, you may get a reply

Yes, you're right, Brioni and the others are quite pricey. Since I've joined the Styleforum a while back I actually did not realize that we don't really "cater" to those kinds of brands. Don't get me wrong, I am certainly no labelwhore as they say. Definitely try to get the best bang for my buck mostly via Ebay and a few other places in order to look like/dress like a million bucks but far from paying that price.

Well Brioni expensive or not...sometimes you just see an item that is just exactly what you want. My goal was to combine a heather grey RL 67 herringbone wool sport coat with a light blue oxford shirt, charcoal flannel wool pants and dark brown C&J cordovan loafers for a rustic, yet elegant enough look for work. The only thing missing is a really beautiful, dark navy/midnight (navy) color tie. Unicolor shantung silk or grenadine or woven would in priciple be ok...but a bit boring in my view. So I'd love to have a beautiful midnight color tie with a grey geometric or floral pattern. Anyhow, been looking for something like this for years until I found my absolute dream tie and bought it via Ebay, but then the vendor told me that he can't find it anymore and paid back my money. Totally dismayed but nothing I could do. So since then looking for the same kind of Brioni tie that sort of keeps eluding me. Here it is. Maybe you guys know a good alternative? I know of Shibumi, Viola Milano, David Hober and Drake's, but none of them really had something that comes close to what I am searching for. Take a look, would deeply appreciate your feedback.

I personally love tom ford, but 4-5k for RTW is just really brutal. TF also fits me very well but other than the sport jacket i just ordered never pulled the trigger (70% discount). I assume the rich people that can afford these brands (with a few exceptions) don't really frequent SF and the SF members love really niche tailors/ brands because the offer more value and I assume better quality even if I frequently think people overthink the whole quality aspect, juts because I have blake welted shoes doesn't mean they are going to fall apart immediately.
Long story short, if you like brioni and it fits you well go for it. you will need deep pockets or deep discounts :) I think most people make the mistake of thinking buying a brioni suit for 6k makes them look great but a lot of people just buy suits for name brands and not for fit.

You misunderstood mea bit there, I am not a big Brioni fan inasmuch that I am continuously lusting after their stuff. Not at all. Sure, they have some great stuff sometimes, but you're right, I also do not see the point to spend 5-6k on a suit etc. even if I had the money. Some things are just not worth the price they ask for them and we all know big brand names tend to overprice their goods.

Moreover, I have a somewhat complicated size with 58 L (eu)/48-50 L (us) depending on cut, so it is generally speaking quite hard for me to find good suits and sport coats, because they are either sold very quickly at full price and or many companies don't even produce in that size, e.g. Spier & McKay - with them I have to go MtM. When I shop I look rather at things like pattern, construction and material as well as price. For example I found a fantastic, Italian made fully constructed light beige/grey sportcoat at Nordstrom rack last year for 150$ with 100% cashmere Lanificio Del Pray material - it's one of my favourite pieces. I also found the best fitting and constructed shirts I ever owned are the "cheapy" 39$ 1901 oxford shirts from Nordstrom.

So expensive isn't a guarantee for quality and to be too focussed on it is a bit OCD as well, perfect example there with goodyear welted vs. blake stitched shoes as you mentioned and I fully concur. Anyhow, I just wanted to ask about that specific tie in a Brioni focussed thread/group, since it's been on my mind for a while to complete the look I was talking about and it's that midnight blue tie that just keeps eluding me.

I'd query folks here. General CM thread usually focused on suits.

Also, lots of larger size suits go by on the eBay stores for these guys:

Understood, seems like depending on location a vacation to Europe and getting your size and fittings nailed down in a few visits to your tailor of choice might be a good idea, budget permitting.
