Is Style Correlated with Intelligence and/or Wealth?

Fundamentally, I think style is something cultivated. Background and being raised in an atmosphere of good taste and style helps, but it is not essential.

Intelligence and money can certainly aid one in the development of style, but they are not prerequisites. However, I think it is extremely difficult to be stylish when you are destitute, likewise if you are a real dunce.

Intelligence and wealth are certainly of themselves not guarantors of style, as others have pointed out. Medical doctors as a group are highly intelligent and mostly very well off. A very large percentage of them are also egregious dressers. One was a guest at my home last Saturday. It was at a baby shower for his wife, my wife's niece. He is a capital fellow, but he was dressed as if he were going to wash his car! (I did what any real man does when a shower is being conducted and fled!)
