Is navy an incorrect color for a Gloverall duffle?

I'm finally buying a Gloverall duffel coat from STP (I've been wanting one for years, but for some reason just haven't ever bought one).

Here's my question: as a duffel coat is rather casual, is a color like navy "incorrect", i.e., should one stay with "country" colors like brown, camel, green, lovat, etc.? I think black would certainly be odd on a duffle coat, but I'm not sure about navy. What would you deem the most classic colors?

Also, how are the Gloverall duffels on STP? anyone have any experience with them? I have no clue whether the one I ordered will have a lining or not...

One dissapointing thing I noticed was these coats on STP are not 100% wool, but rather some kind of 70% wool, 30% something else. I think if you order direct from Gloverall in the UK you can get a 100% wool coat but it will cost more.

No idea about the "correct" color, but I don't see anything wrong with one. I've also seen people wear duffel coats over suits as an overcoat, even if that is not their "correct" use.

The only people who disliked navy Gloveralls were the Kreigsmarine.

The duffle coat was originally part of a naval uniform, so navy is, IMO, the most appropriate color.

If navy holds you down, consider camel.

I bought a charcoal Gloverall duffle coat from stp and love it. There is only one duffle coat that Gloverall currently offers for men that is 100% wool http://www.gloverall.com/acatalog/kingston_682_58.html.

The one I got from STP is the Classic 512 http://www.gloverall.com/acatalog/Classic_512_BB.html more specifically the DC model with 70% wool and 30% polyester.

If you are willing to shell out around 279 euros or around $420 with the current exchange rate excluding shipping for the Kingston 200% wool model then that is cool too.

STP offers a great price for the 512 Classic. The coat is nice and heavy. I do not think all the Gloverall duffles on the STP website are the 512 DC model though, so the percentages of material might differ.
