Is my Burberry coat real?

Heya, I purchased this coat second hand and am wondering if it’s real? The tag on the inside is in Japanese but too faded to read anyway. I know there’s a lot of vintage Burberry in Japan as they manufacture there and all blue label is made there. Can anyone tell me if they think it’s an authentic Japanese Burberry coat? Thanks

Based on the information provided it’s hard to tell.

I’m not familiar with Burberry manufacturing any outerwear in Japan. If they do, I’ve never seen it here so it must be strictly for their domestic market.

photos are from too far away to tell anything. My advice is to look closely for signs of good/poor construction.

I had a similar Burberry in the late 90's, but with different buttons.

Burberry does make a Blue Label for the Japanese market. These have a very distinct label - Blue with white lettering (rarely vice versa), all caps BURBERRY and BLUE LABEL underneath. Your coat's tag is similar to domestic Burberry, not Blue Label. The tag itself doesn't look too authentic either. The pictures aren't too clear but there are no quotation marks around the name Burberry, no reg, no copyright, no 'Made in England'. Could be but it seems unlikely.

If you can upload better pictures of the tag itself as well as the white tag, faded or not. The flag carried by the guy on the horse should clearly read 'prorsum'. As others have said check the quality of the garment, stitching etc.

Burberry is your typical marketed fashion house, so as with anything in "designer" fashion it may be faked and made to look old. I've heard of minimally, think it was Prada or something, that was semi aged and sold as actual pre-worn Prada clothing at a high sticker price. Depends on where you got it to.

sorry....I’m not fully understanding you.

Are you saying that certain pre worn clothing will fetch a higher price than a new item?

No, I wasn't comparing new to old. When you walk into a thrift store, for example, some items that are "designer" often have a higher sticker price.
