First off — hi there. I've been a long time reader but only recently gotten around to registering on SF.

I've been looking a bit (by a bit I mean obsessed) at leather briefcases that will be a good combination of functionality and style and have narrowed my search down to the M&W Traveler and possibly the Glaser Flaptop. However, when I go to the M&W site, it seems to be under construction. They also don't answer calls or email inquiries. Does anyone know if these guys still exist?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks — hopefully that's what's going on. Do you happen to have any experience with their steerhide case? The pictures I've seen of the horse hide look great when new, but I've also seen a few images of used cases that looked a bit ragged. I'm hoping the steer hide holds up a little better, but I haven't been able to find a single review of that model.

They sent me some samples, but I'm thinking of picking one up as an extra bag. I'm most likely going to be ordering a Frank Clegg bag soon as my main bag. As for the leathers, they have a waxy feel to it.

Just curious — what do you like about the Clegg over the MW that would make that the primary?

The harness belting leather and the diversity of design. I feel like the Clegg is more of an artwork in addition to a high quality bag.

I just got an email from the M&W Traveler people — it looks like they've closed the business.

Wow, that sucks. Guess its time for me to raise the price on my bag, seeing as how its now a collectors item!
