Is Limewire the best music downloading site?

I have been using Limewire for a few months now (free version) and I recently had to reload my computer to its original settings. Before downloading Limewire again I wanted to check if the consensus is that its the best FREE downloading program?

Limewire, historically, has sucked - high risk for fakes and viruses. I stopped using it years ago and switched to other methods so I don't know how much they have improved.

I have two methods, depending on if I'm looking for a single song, or if I want an entire album. For single songs I use skreemr.com and Beemp3.com. Both are mp3 search engines. For entire albums I use bittorrent. I search on ThePirateBay.com and use UTorrent.

Limewire is **** and super easy to get to files people dont want out on the net. I have never used it. I went from Bearshare to torrenting about 4 or 5 years ago

Bearshare and Limewire are essentially the same thing. They both use the same network, the Gnutella Network, and only Gnutella. Other p2p programs such as Shareaza and Morpheus use other networks such as Gnutella, Gnutella2, and eDonkey2k.

Limewire has certain restrictions put in place. However, since it is open source, another project was forked off the Pro version which removes those restrictions called Frostwire.

Hence why I stopped using Bearshare, I know it was built on the same chocolate-nutty goodness, but it was ****. There was a long period of time where I acutally bought CDs again. Mind you all of this was ages ago in the computer world. When I was a computer tech I had more than enough computers come in loaded with viruses. Guess what each one had in common, Limewire was installed.
