Pinstriped is the wrong word. You mean a regatta blazer, right?
There's no other sort of striped blazer.

I've done it with jeans (navy blue/white pinstripes/dark jeans) but would never do it with dressier clothing.

As I said in the other thread, I think a pinstripe odd jacket can look good with jeans, but probably not with anything else.

I honestly don't understand the worry about people knowing you're wearing an orphaned suit jacket though, who cares? If it looks good then it looks good, why does it matter if its an orphaned suit jacket or not?
