I'm thinking of a charcoal suit, white FC shirt, black shoes, white PS, and dark blue tie for a friend's wedding this November (no dress code specified). I think sometimes you can do better by not trying so hard in these types of situations.

If you dress conservative and well, you won't upstage the bride and groom and you'll still look like you gave the occasion the gravity it deserves. Wearing a loud tie or the like to stand out doesn't bode well IMHO.
