weight loss is primarily a function of diet, so yes. keep in mind that muscle will be the first to go on a caloric deficit, but if you don't care about looking skinny-fat then just eat less. to maintain muscle mass, do resistance training, keep protein high and eat slightly below maintenance.

exercises you can do: a billion, but most commonly pushups, dips, chinups, and every variation on these. buying a pullup bar and a kettlebell will immediately open up your options immensely. seriously though, get a gym membership.

edit: i dont know what is up with all these p90x blowjobs people are giving out here. its not the magic pill or the final answer. its good for someone to do at home, but if you eat like a fatass and do p90x you're still going to be a fatass. not to mention p90x requires a decent level of fitness in the first place

Pullups, pushups, dips, bodyweight squats.

When you can can do a decent number of pushups and pullups, go to more advanced progressions - pushups with raised feet, diamond pushups, pike and tiger pushups and ulitmately, handstand pushups. You can also do weighted pullups pretty easily. A backpack with a dumbbell will work, or get a dip belt.

Do dips between 2 chairs or tables. When you can do 10, consider adding weight.

When you can do a resonable number of bodyweight squats, consider pistol squats. They are *hard*.

Add ab workouts - crunches, ab rollouts, dragon flags, etc. All can be done easily at home.

Finally, throw in GPP circuits - jumping jacks, grasshoppers, burpees, mountain climbers, man makers, etc.

There's so much you can do at home.

how old are you? how much do you want/need to lose?

you can loose a great deal of weight by dieting, but it can be very hard to loose the last bits of weight with dieting alone - not impossible, just very challenging. a good combination is helpful - you can start slow and build up. good luck

OP, get a book by Ross Enamait called "Never Gymless." It is the bible of working out without a gym. And Ross is the man...

Yes, you can lose weight with a good diet and little to no excerise.

Supposedly, Hershel Walker never hit the weights and all he did was 1000 pushups and 1000 situps a day and he looks like a monster.

This. Walking and/or hiking (slow movement at a steady pace) is probably the most effective exercise to increase and sustain weight loss. However, don't forget that your body composition will be determined 80% by your dietary habits, and 20% by physical activity. You will find that once you implement a change to your diet, particularly by cutting out all processed foods and refined carbohydrates, your energy levels will begin to increase in correlation. This will give you the drive to actually want to be more active and exercise. There is a common misconception, and reversal of causality, in the weight loss community, where it is assumed that the obese are just gluttons and sloths, and that they are fat because they don't exercise. However, it is the other way around. They don't exercise because they are fat. It has to do with hormones, not simply calories in/calories out. Their fat tissue is hoarding energy because of increased insulin levels, presumably from the intake of dietary carbohydrate, therefore leaving less energy readily available for use, causing them to eat more calories and conserve more energy by remaining sedate and inactive. While it is certainly possible to experience weight loss with little to no exercise by making a change to your diet, you will notice that as a result of this change, energy levels will increase, and exercise will become a desire, rather than a chore.
