Is it possible to get shoes re-soled with a double sole?

Like the title says is this even possible? I like the heftiness of double soled shoes and was wondering if this was possible.

Sure. They just slap on two layers. You can even it get only one layer replaced, if the other has not started to get ground down.

Good to know. And to be clearer I guess I have a pair that is single soled that needs replacing, as well as a pair with dannite soles that I was hoping to get resoled with a double sole.

Thanks for that link, johnny; I'd missed that thread. But I thought what the OP was trying to ask was, can you take a single soled shoe and have it resoled with a double, or is that going to throw off the balance or mess some other dimension of the shoe up?

One other thing to keep in mind is the hardness/durability of the resoling. I get two very hardy soles slapped together - lasts much longer because of the uneven wear patterns (I drag my heels).

Adding specificity to the question raised in the OP, will Alden re-craft a pair of LHS's with a double sole (sort of like the PRL Darlton penny loafer)?

I didn't read anything about dimensions/balance/proportion/etc into the OP's comment, just 'can it be done?'. The thread I linked to was a guy who took off one type of sole and put on another. I guess you'd have to call to make sure they could do double leather as well as single, but I guess I just assumed they'd be able to.

I had previosly posed this question to Kathy at the corporate Alden store in DC. Her answer is that Alden will put whatever Alden sole you want on any Alden shoe. As an example, I have a pair of LHS w/ a crepe sole on them.
