Is it okay to wear a regular white shirt with DJ?

I noticed in Casablanca, Bogie wears awhat appears to e a regular white shirt with his dinner jacket. Is this an acceptable practice? I go to a decent amount of dinners in England where DJ is de rigeur and wondered if this is acceptable.

You'd think it would be hard to keep one's dinner jacket sparkling white, too, but apparently there are some nice dry cleaners in the deserts of North Africa.

Not a regular white shirt. However a luxury cotton in a 160s to 180s white broadcloth and a semi spread or short point straight collar with french cuffs and french placket (no placket) and pearl buttons is a minimalist look for summer or when travelling. Ive worn it myself and it looks good.
