What would be the point? OR is it a trendy one that does not look like a rain coat and can double for a normal coat?

Yes, you can wear a raincoat as an in-between-coat on the days when it's too cold to go without an outer garment, but too warm to wear a heavy winter coat.

It helps, if the rain coat is an attractive one (as opposed to a very utilitarian nylon coat).

I wear my raincoat if it's an in between day like bengal says and they're talking about a chance of rain. Another fun garment to have in your closet is a duster, for non rainy cool days.

If you're talking about a slicker, then unless raindrops appear imminent, you will look out of place. If you're talking about a trench or a lightweight coat that can be treated against wetness, sure.

There was some interesting symbolism behind Harry Caul's all-weather slicker in The Conversation.

It had better be OK because I just bought a Burberry trenchcoat at the outlet mall, planning to wear it on those days described by bengal-stripe. We have a lot of them in Oklahoma and we also have days when the weather changes from sunny to a literal flood within a matter of hours.

Only if you're an occasional flasher, which is not encouraged.
