Is it in bad taste to...

...wear shiny (you know the type!) shoes to the office?
...or are they really more for formal occasions?

I find it too hard to keep up with all the etiquette of the modern fashion world!

Cheers

If by shiny you mean patent leather then yes, it is inappropriate.

I wouldnt wear patent only in formal occasions because its appropriate or casual occasions because its ironic. Not in professional settings... ever.

If you are working in a traditional suit wearing type office then patent leather would not be appropriate, I don't know if I would go so far as to say bad taste, it would just be odd.
If you work in something a bit creative then I don't see why you shouldn't, I think patent shoes might look cool with maybe a skinny grey suit a white shirt and a skinny black knitted tie or similar, but yeah I believe they are generally reserved for black tie.

To be honest, my own intuition was telling me that, but I thought I'd check before putting the shoes up for sale (as I rarely go to events requiring formal shoes) and I dont really have the wardrobe to be 'ironic' with them.

Thank you very much, SF crew.

Did you buy them for a specific occasion?

What's rude and/or unnecessary is when someone creates a new thread instead of searching the forum to find the answer they are looking for. I didn't mean to come off as rude and I guess I'll just ignore the countless redundant posts like the other forum members but it does become abit annoying. http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...ht=shiny+shoes http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...ht=shiny+shoes http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...ht=shiny+shoes

Well you linked him to a thread called "Ask your marsupialed question...."

People do not actually get answers to their questions in that thread, BTW.

-black suit thread
-slim fit dress shirt thread
-need cheap but badass suit thread
-are you sure Hugo Boss sucks? thread

Dude, I'm there you'll get an answer. I'm the supreme authority on shiny shoes.
