Is it a good idea to bring photos to a bespoke tailor?

Hello Everyone

Is bringing a photograph to a tailor in order to illustrate the more difficult tailoring whims (lapel width, gore height, quarters, etc) a good thing, or might it be insulting to a quality tailor to be shown something to 'copy' (a bit like a barber and a magazine)?

The thought occurred when I saw this photo, which has lapels exactly as I would like (though I fear it is by Darren Beaman, who doesn't seem to have a great reputation around these parts).

(If it helps, the tailor I am thinking of going to is George on Cleveland Street, London)

it's bespoke... you're paying him to make what YOU want. that should be his only concern. It should be a process that the two of you work through together, even if that means using pictures. Keep in mind I've never done bespoke, but that's just my thoughts on what it should be like

from what I've read here it depends on the shop. Some will not be open to that. They have a house style and that's generally what they make. You want to find a tailor that makes suits as close to the style you want as possible.

The tailor isn't a large Savile Row institution, so I don't know if they would consider themselves to have a house style, or be particularly offended if I asked for another style if they did. On the other hand, I hear the huy can be quite moody - more likely to take offence perhaps! here is the url btw http://www.georgebespoketailors.com/
