Looks like the hickeystyle.com website hasn't been updated in a season or two... and I think the store in NYC was shut down.

I quite like hickey. The ties were a great width at 3".

Is there a press release about this?

Were sales just lagging or what?

Epic fail. None of the links mention why Hickey is being done away with.

I would put the blame squarely on the shoulders of Joseph abboud. He is the design director now.
that Youthful Hickey stuff is very different then Abbouds usual vision.

One question that remains to be answered is whether the Sterling stuff will be on par with hickey's quality (half-canvassed suits, nice fabrics, etc.)

From the RBJ article:
The company’s new line—Hickey Freeman Sterling—will begin production in June and hit stores next spring, officials said. In addition the company is moving some production of its other brand’s garments to the Rochester facility and plans to open a factory outlet store in Syracuse..
A good sign, I think.
