Guinness is perfectly respectable without the pretensions of those brands. You're correct in that some people assume it to be the best.

It's something you just accept as a necessary evil because you're trying to inject some alcohol into your system. That's why I get a kick out of someone drinking x and saying y **************** because both parties are enjoying their liquid ****, only holding their nose as they do it.

Case in point: non-alcoholic beers

Eason, I'm going to be charitable and assume you're drunk, but that's still no excuse for what you've posted. Compared to fresca, beer tastes like crap???

And don't non-alcoholic beers actually prove the opposite of your point?

When the stock market crashes again on Friday, I'm going to buy some Sam Adams stock. Any thoughts on this?

Sam Adams stock has been predicted to do very well over the next year or two. Booze and Gambling stocks usually perform well no matter how bad the economy is.

HERESY Fresca is an amazing beverage, it's quite possibly the perfect drink. non-alcoholic beers prove my point because nobody drinks them- not because they actually exist.

When I was a bartender non-alcoholic beers were requested very often.

Saying beers taste is irrelevant compared to a sweet drink like a fresca, is saying chips are irrelevant in comparison to a sweet snack like a slice of cake. Sometimes I want something with some bite and refreshes you differently then a sweet drink. Call me crazy, but I love the taste of an icy cold Guinness after a hard day of work. Sort of like how a corona compliments a weekend bbq perfectly.

Guinness is probably the best very widely available draft beer. I drink it pretty regularly. Other than that, there are plenty of other amazing beers that are much better. But guinness is kind of an old favorite that's always good. What other common beer is always as appropriate as guinness? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

They say it's the same stuff sold in the Guinness Draught cans, but it sure doesn't taste like it to me - far more watery and flat.

What really sucks is that it's getting harder and harder to find the cans, both in bars and stores....

yeah I usually buy guinness draught cans when available.

I don't know, I've had plenty of guinness in ireland, and it tastes pretty similar to whats on tap in the US, I think people are just mentally conditioned for it to taste better.

That said, Guinness + Guinness Stew or Shepherds Pie in a Dublin pub = ultimate comfort food.
