Felt I needed to also ask what you think about his clarity of writing, handling of the subject matter like style, tailoring etc...? Sorry.

I do not stand as a member of "the community" as defined in the strictest sense, being into design and avant-garde fashion hence caring very little for what I see as being a strict re-hash of traditions now rendered meaningless. However this does not mean I am uninterested in the intricacies of construction and from the position I occupy on the periphery it is obvious to me that Manton brings a wealth of information to the table and is quite eager to share it with those who politely inquire. This stands in stark contrast with the long diatribes you post and that, for the most part, remain unread.

I can't be accused of being a Manton Fran, to wit (hahaha) my distaste for his poor knowledge of non-discredited history or his dorky dress style. On the other hand, judging by other posts of his I've read, who he is, who he thinks he is and who others think he is appear to be in harmonious synchronicity, a rare quality in "the community". So Manton knows his stuff, likes it, present what he thinks in a clear and straightforward manner and is there to answer questions; that's the kind of gifted by the internet horse I don't need to look in the mouth, something people unaware of your venomous bite should have done when they encountered your labyrinthine writing.

Without getting into any of the rest, let me point out that this takes tremendous skill and a lot of work. And may still be unachievable. As a potential "consumer" of your "product", I would prefer many shorter pieces with each having less to offer but offering it more clearly.

Could be, could be but you do give the impression of having quite a bit of spare time. Some people like games of skill.

I think you gave me some responsible insights. I always appreciate that and I will incorporate some suggestions. I'll break longer essays up into several parts. After i finish the intial round of the English series, i doubt if anything will be longer than 1400 words. And although I do this mostly for myself, I see no problem making it easier for other people to get through.

I look forward to the result.

This is a decision point and one you can't slip past, as it makes a difference in how you approach things. The only real advice I remember from my favorite HS English teacher was that if a reader tells you your writing is unclear, he is right and your own opinion is irrelevant. The point of expository writing is to transmit information and you can only measure success at the recipient end and the recipient has the ruler. That overstates the case, but it is essentially correct.

As you may have noticed, I post mostly to entertain myself, which is why I don't get offended if people don't like what I write.

If you have nothing to add to this thread, don't post...
