If it has to be the Burb, why not consider one of these?

I don't like the brand that much, but the resale value is ok.
I had bought a long grey wool herringbone winter coat with the check lining from their London line on sale back in 1999 or so for 350 dollars at an outlet (Burberry retail prices were generally lower then) and sold it on ebay a few years ago for 572 dollars. It was in near-mint condition though. And some people still like to throw their coats over chairs or hang them on the wall in a way that they prominently feature the Burberry check lining as a status symbol....
I'd get a simple Dior Homme instead ($1,550).

It may get you through the winter OP, but that depends on what your winters are like. What country are you in and what are the winters usually like.

All that's missing is SS insignia...

LOL :D

They love trench coat style things in Asia, with gun flaps, double breasted, epaulettes, D rings, huge buttons and buckles, etc. ...and Burberry is very popular and much imitated as well, especially in countries like South Korea, Japan and China.

Id wear it in NYC. Wont be super cold, but not exactly warm winters either...

Probably be OK in NYC. Don't think it's worth $1,795 though, i.e. paying for the name. I certainly wouldn't pay that much for a trench coat. That's why I was asking where you are. For my winters I need much more than a trench coat, when it hits -30C, and I usually wear a large, down-filled parka.

Such a gaudy look... can't see it not being riducled here stateside. almost cartoonish. But then again, who am I to judge? I used to rock Hammer pants :0

Don't be taken in - Burberry lost their integrity years ago, it's a completely empty fashion label trading on empty promises. Their garments have very little functional utility these days - their only premise is to take money from gullible foreigners.

A perfect description of their San Francisco shop.

I bought a vintage Burberry trench (the classic khaki one) on eBay a couple of years back for $100. Great jacket.

That said, it looks like it has about nothing in common with this jacket except for the label. Sad.

I used to be a Burberry fan, when it was not a fashion made in china brand, but now I wouldnt spend one forth of that for a Burberry.
