For a 36R sized suit, is it abnormal to have an 18" shoulder length? By abnormal I mean is it normally considered big shoullders for a 36R.

18 inches is a perfect 38r size, not 36

I'd prefer to see 17.5" for a 36R.

I prefer to see 17,5 on a 38 r as I am narrow on shoulders but wider on breast for a 36

For whatever it means I fit a 40 chest (21" across) with 18 shoulders. But, that's harder to find OTR. Usually the shoulders are wider on 40 jackets.

Yes, that looks very large for a 36R.

From what I've seen:

Normal 38R = 18"
Slim 38R = 17.5"
Slim 36R = 17"

I'm very narrow in the shoulders as well and would love to find a 38R with 17" shoulders.

A little odd, you must have really broad shoulders to wear that.

I wouldn't say I have abnormally broad shoulders, just broad for my chest size. I fit a 38R in the shoulders but I'm a 36R in the chest.
