As long as you are not losing muscle mass, and you're getting "enough" vitamins and minerals (take a multi), there should be no issue with you eating 1500-2000 calories a day.
This being said, I would not go below 1500 and I would shoot for 2k (assuming you are not trying to lose/gain weight and just want to be healthy).
