I can predict anyone's IQ with fantastic precision.

Start with 120. Subtract 1 point for every Styleforum poast.

Thomas' IQ is therefore -19,249... and about to drop.

The score from converting my ACT score to the SAT and using the SAT to IQ chart is reasonably close to the score I got when I once took a [fairly involved, legit seeming] online IQ test.

yippee?

The fact that you took the ACT means you are from the midwest. Due to known inbreeding and generally low genetic stock quality in these areas, I can state with near-certainty that your IQ is sub-80.

Thus, an intelligent person could do quite poorly on a standarized test if they weren't familiar with the subject matter. Of course, one would also expect an intelligent person to do well if it's subject matter they've studied. That being the case, there's a rough correlation, but it's not perfectly reliable.

I didn't know this comparison existed; apparently I'm a genius, or slightly below.

I only took the ACT (not the SAT). Also took the LSAT and have taken IQ tests before, but I don't remember those scores. I have a rough idea though.

I hate to be that guy that's all like "11!!eleven!1 SAT is a racist test that only measures aptitude according to the white man's standard!!11!shift!!" But jesus, we're really using the SAT as a baseline measure for something as universal as "intelligence"? To some extent I agree... for those who are similarly educated and have the same degree of experience with the test it might work. But the comparison chart just leads me to believe that after looking at it, a lot more people are going to have an inflated sense of their own intelligence...

For starters, the SAT Math requires proficiency in Algebra II and Geometry, the Verbal requires familiarity with dense prose.... lets not even talk about the bullshit that is the vocab portion of it. Just because you memorized a 400 word vocab-bank doesn't move you from "above average" to "genius".

Strangely, so does mine. [/twilight zone theme]

Although I'm really curious how the GMAT score stacks up. I was kinda proud of that one.

**** this standardized test debate again. I'm sure no one here has a source of first hand knowledge of these sort of tests.
