iPhone message sounds that don't suck?

Recently purchased an iPhone. Does anyone know, or have, any sounds for receiving texts and emails that are less craptacular than the ones Apple loads onto the phone?

"Three Tone Chime" and "Bell" aren't doing it for me.

http://www.zedge.net/ Nothing specific but this site is pretty cool for ringtones, alerts, etc. Should be free programs on the web to convert them for use on the iPhone. Google.

You can pretty much download any sound in the world and convert it to an appropriate file. How about AOL's "You've got mail!"?

Download iRinger. It is free and it allows you to convert any song/sound in your iTunes library into a ringtone.

You don't really need that for conversion to ringtones. I can give the OP instructions on how to convert song clips to ringtones, if he cares.

its fiddly actually, but you can do it within iTunes.

Writing this from memory, so perhaps it's a little out...

For whatever reason, Apple will only take maximum 30 second audio files as ring tones, so step 1 is to delete the hell out of your MP3 by using iTunes ability to pick a start point and an end point for playing songs...ie, start point just before "I" and end point just after "was made for lovin you baby".

Then right click on the song in itunes and select covert to AAC. The conversion will skip all the part that is selected to not play, and you will have a file under 30 secs. (side note - at this point, go back to the original MP3 and reset your start/end points to 0.00 and the end of the song).

Now you just import your new AAC file into the ringtones thingy in iTunes, select to sync ringtones when you sync the phone, and away you go.

That's all well and good, guys, but he asked about changing the message tone.

Short of jailbreaking it, you're stuck with the preset list. Tri-tone is the least sucktacular.

I actually will be jailbreaking it this weekend or next, thus the search for sounds. I never knew iTunes could function as quasi-sound editor.
