Downloading it now, on my lunch. My work has a Dual Band N Router and good bandwidth coming in. So far it's downloading a lot faster then I expected to my iPhone 4. :sly:

If you're at all concerned about audio quality from your portable device, you really need to consider a new DAC. Regardless of how good your headphones are, crappy analog is crappy.

This one looks pretty nice, and v-moda tends to know their shiznit.

Edit: I actually haven't really heard the iPhone output, nor do I know what DACs they use. It could be glorious, for all I know.

$600 for better audio from your iPhone? Plus it doubles your size, likely weight and looks ugly as sin? No thanks. I'll just invest in some good headphones and use a high bit-rate when possible.

I'm clearly not a big enough audio fanboi to care. :)

I've seen that thing. I bet it is pretty good, but it is rather bulky/ugly and whatnot. Also if you drop it you can cost yourself twice as much money if both things break. I wish they would just incoporate a better DAC and headphone amp into it. At home I have a peachtree nova, which does a fine job with its DAC.

Or you could just view it as a $600 case :)

I question the benefit it provides, just for the fact that "audiophile" has a reputation for being severely overpriced and under-performing. There is good equipment out there, but there is also a lot of over priced cables and other junk for sale.

I would argue that a DAC and speakers in that order are the most important upgrades that you can make to get better sound of digital music.

It's much less about being an audio fanboi than looking like one.

I was going to download it but then I realized I didn't have enough memory left. :plain:

I am considering the 32 GB iPhone 5 now. :plain:

I'm impressed by how much faster it is in the benchmarks vs. the iPhone 4s.

Then again, I've never used a 4s. And it would be nice if they benchmarked it against the competition, not just the model it's replacing.

Edit - I'll shut up now (from engadget): SunSpider scores average at 924ms, which is more than twice as fast as the 2,200ms the iPhone 4S manages and still quite a bit quicker than the 1,400ms scored by the Galaxy S III and the 1,700ms managed by the HTC One X.

(I have no idea what SunSpider is, but still, that sounds good).

Edit 2 - this is also great to hear: On our standard battery rundown test, in which we loop a video with LTE and WiFi enabled and social accounts pinging at regular intervals, the iPhone 5 managed a hugely impressive 11 hours and 15 minutes. That's just 10 minutes shy of the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx.

(RAZR Maxx is pretty much unparalleled in terms of battery in Android-land)

To me it makes no sense not to get the most amount of memory offered in products. It will run better, bigger megapixel camera means bigger picture files, apps using more and more memory, rather not play the "I shoulda" game in any situation. Get the 64 ya cheap bastards.

The memory used will be just temp space for the download. Just delete a few songs or videos that you don't need on yourself right now. Once it's downloaded and installed, the space will be freed up again.

iPhone's have always felt faster then the competition. Apple does the best job in the industry at optimization. Even when they have less ram and a slower processor to work with, they tend to have the most snappy feeling phones.

Been hearing great things about the A6. It does sound like a killer chip. Can't wait to see some games programmed to take advantage of it on the new screen.

Should I get two 32G iPhones or one 64G iPhone? I mean 64G is awesome, but the thought of having two iPhones is just sexual.
