It should work much the same way as it did with your iPod. Keep in mind that sometimes software updates on Apple's end and cause glitches here, but those usually get sorted out if discovered and fixed in future updates.

Not saying Android screens never break, just that I don't recall seeing one, while I can think of many instances where I've seen broken iPhone screens. Of course, any screen can break.

The point I'm trying to make is that feeling solid and being durable are not the same thing when it comes to cell phones. Drop a phone with a metal frame on the ground, and the metal transmits the shock (which has to go somewhere). Drop a phone with a plastic case on the ground, and the plastic absorbs much of the shock.

JM, my iPad is company owned and is on a different account vs. my iPods. This iCloud, monthly fees?

Did I just get on someone's block list? Cool, glad to know it only takes 2 posts to get there.

I've definitely seen spiderwebbed android phones in the wild (though not as many, and I see more androids than iphones)
I think part of the breakage issue on the 4/4s is due to the corners being so rigid. A lot of android phones have softer plastic (or thinner metal) at all 4 corners and it doesn't even have to deform very much to make a noticeable difference in shock absorption. Also, the ones with user replaceable batteries tend to explode open on impact which probably helps dissipate the energy away from the screen. The same rigid heft that made the iphone 4 feel great in your hands seems to be its downfall when it comes to breakage (hence all of the rubber bumpers)--the thing is sending more weight at the ground and it has less ability to absorb the impact. The other phones out there that weigh as much as the 4 are mostly much larger phones as well which might help them out a bit since the same force is spread out over a larger area.

iCloud is the one thing I haven't done that I probably should.

Connecting the iPhone in the MB works really well because it allows you to use your phone's playlist or play music/programs from apps. I think I'm going to upgrade to the new phone since an adapter will be available for the car's plug. I wouldn't upgrade if an adapter wasn't available.

Another thought that popped into my head: Does anybody here use iPhones without iTunes? I absolutely unequivocally hate the piece of shit that is iTunes, and want nothing to do with it if possible.

How is integration with gmail/google calendar/picasa? I assume the first two are pretty good, but not so sure about Picasa. I like that I can click on Gallery on my Android device, and all my Picasa albums show as well.

Ok well you should still have an Apple ID because of your iPod and iTunes account. Its been a while since I did the initial set up process, but that should be the info you use for iCloud when you do the set up process. iCloud links directly to your iTunes account.

You won't need To pay a monthly fee unless you go over the storage they give you for free with your account. Most people never do. I don't.

Let me know if you still have questions and I'll point you in the right direction.

Apple solved this last year with "PC Free" in iOS 5. You can buy an iPhone and an iPad and never touch the pc/Mac version of iTunes. They are able to operate completely independently now. So this won't be an issue for you.

Gmail and google cal sync with the phone. To access Picasa you will need an app that has that ability. I'm sure there are a few available.

Kinda contradicts the idea of "great design" though if you never see it.

Not sure about mobile internet plans in the US, but in Germany flatrates have a limit upon which the speed gets heavily reduced (speaking of Germany, the fast LTE is 80€ per month ). Many people have no real clue what a cloud is and that actually lots of data gets sent back and forth and I'm sure in the beginning of iCloud+iOs the backuping was automatically ticked. Now you get asked during the setup -- right? --, it's just good to know that it can create lots of traffic.
Fortunately, it's not easy anymore to hack into someones iCloud account by just knowing the last four digits of the credit card since that journalist with the twitter "Mac"/"Tim"/? account (or whatever his short name was) got "hacked" by that kid.

Can you finally buy ALAC files in the iTunes store?

Oh, and about the apps.. just jailbreak that god damn phone. Pay for the apps that are actually good. Or don't.

    This is dumb.

This is also dumb. The back ups happen over WIFI.

This shows you are a POS. It's just digital data right? Who cares if you steal it. No big deal. Doesn't hurt anyone.

Assholes like you are why the App selection on Android sucks compared to iOS. No one can make any money off it since everyone just side loads apps without paying for them. Great job promoting that attitude.

Yeah, I just look to upgrade at the end of my contract. Mine's up so I'm pumped. If it wasn't I wouldn't be peeved at not getting this one though. It'll be fun to see the progression of stuff though.

actually, I'm not sure when I'd be eligible to upgrade. Is it 2 years for all? I'm on my in-laws family plan with corporate discount, I think I started in November of last year, so timing could be ideal if a 5S or something comes out in Sept-Oct of next year.

And my bill is $32 a month, which is awesome.
