so what's the consensus? i've been holding out to buy one planning on getting a 2 when the prices came down. is the 3 a big enough improvement that it's worth the extra $?

Did I not already answer this? Yes! Its only $100 people. Its worth it for the whole year or more of better reading and graphics.

iPad 2 still has a very strong resale market but you need to do it quick before the market is flooded. Here are the many channels you can trade in your iPad 2 to offset the cost of iPad 3.

Im torn between 16 and 32 gigs. I might have to go for the 32 but 800 bucks with the smart cover is a lot of money..

Just updated my atv2 software and it's a much better experience. iOS 5.1 is nice too.

Yes, for $100 more you get the single most amazing tablet screen on the market. Your eyes won't be able to see the pixels, unlike the 2 which you can.

I'm curious how long Att and Verizon can hold out at these prices with LTE. The speed increase will make it all that much easier to blow past the data amounts they are selling you. Honestly the minimum needs to be 5gig with 10 being standard.

Think I might pick up a 3 for the missus. Most use will be in the home so I'm thinking wifi with a pay as you go mifi device. At home, the wifi is plenty fast, right?

Likely will get 16 gb as it seems like the cloud/streaming will take care of most storage needs and for any real storage hungry uses the extra 16 gigs won't mean shit. For road trips and the like where we will want a lot of media stored I figure we can bring along a portable wifi HD of some sort.

What are the i/o ports like on this thing?

what does jailbreaking do to it? office bought an apple tv. pretty much useless beside being able to stream wireless presentations etc.

beside the free WSJ, everyone was pretty much underwhelmed

Is the iPad for me if I'm concerned about typing (aka I really think I'm going to go nuts without having a physical keyboard, and no, I don't want to carry around a wireless keyboard accessory) and the lack of a track pad?

If it's really that big of a deal for you get something like one of these:

There are more options if you do some searching.
