I'm just going to keep the 4G model. I remember the keynote saying that it gets 9 hours of battery life with 4G, but I wonder if that means 'with 4G turned on all the time, it gets 9 hours.'

Just a FYI, there companies that provide a virtual desktop for iPads. You get all the goodies of a real computer, including flash and Windows (if you want it) on a much faster machine then your mobile device.
OnLive is one that has been getting a lot of heat lately:

The problem here is they are forcing a touch experience on UI's that were not designed from the ground up to be so. It may work, but it will never be enjoyable.

    This.

This is also the reason why using a separate keyboard with an iPad would be a less-than-stellar experience. Having to type and then lift your hands to touch your screen, as opposed to using a trackpad, is cumbersome and unnatural.

The iPad should be used as it is and without external input accessories.

That's a bunch of bullshit. I've knocked out lengthy emails and docs on my iPad with the Apple bluetooth keyboard before. Worked smooth as silk. When I'm done, I throw the keyboard back in my bag and go back to fingering this thing.

This. I bought a keyboard, used it a time or two, and now I have no idea where it is. It made simple functions way too cumbersome for me. I actually had forgotten I had it until I read the posts above. At this point I wouldn't think of using it or any other.

This has nothing to do with using external keyboards. I am cool, as is Apple, with the bluetooth keyboard use with an iPad. I am commenting on a company creating a virtual desktop of Windows 7 on an iPad. It just won't work as one wishes. Windows 7 was not created to be a touch experience.

I know your point had nothing to do with using external keyboards. I was merely pointing out another corollary argument.

I heard on a TWiT podcast recently that Onlive have been running into licensing problems with Microsoft, for providing virtual Windows and Office. My thinking is if one really requires Windows and MS Office on the go, then just get a laptop. Problem with things like Onlive, if there's no internet, there's no Onlive.

It will be pointless in a few months when Windows 8 hits retail.

If anyone is looking/thinking of selling their old iPad, I just sent my iPad 1 to Amazon. They have a trade-in program and if all works out I'll be getting $280 for my 64 GB model. The catch is that you don't get cash but rather credit to use at Amazon, which I'll be using to get a new iPad. Just wanted to throw that out in case someone was thinking of selling theirs but doesn't want to use Ebay or Craigslist.

Placing my order Tuesday. Decided on the 32 gig LTE version for Verizon. Black, of course.
