x2 It has a very distinguishable look and adds a lot IMO.

Why not green on the bottom [IMG]

Edit: Does someone do green bottom soles already?

I think Borrelli did (which were presumably made by SM)?

That would be their upper tier then? I bought a pair that had a dark brown bottom, but it was the lower end of LB/SM (at least I think SM made them) Edit/OT - I think I see CS Lewis when I see this thread [IMG]

Looks great so far. A plain brown captoe oxford would be a good idea. I think it's a little strange to start off a company with single monkstraps, but they look nice nonetheless.

In all honesty, the shoes are still too expensive. For the asking price, you can own beautiful benchmade Carmina's from Spain, which have been well accepted in the style community and is one of the brands The Armoury carries.

I actually think the rise in the Clayton's toe box is too high.

But ordered a pair already for experimentation. [IMG]

Who cares where the shoes are made as long as the quality and styling is there? Since that is what we are after and not a little line of "Made in England" or "Made in Italy" text embossed somewhere.

I am interested in seeing the pair rebel wore for a few months. Also, why not make the soles lickable?

Here are the pics of my shoes after a couple of months wear. I'd say a conservative estimate is 15 wears.

There are 2 w/ shoe trees and a few without. Please note that there are a couple of minor design changes from this shoe to the model for sale, so ignore any slight discrepancies.

F- While I totally feel you on shoe bigotry - and without an iota of BS here - I could care less where these shoes are made, thats how nice they are. You know me - Im all about the GG/EG/JL/CJ world... and really nothing less - and these are completely holding their own against the big dogs.

While I cant speak for David and Logan - you should at least handle a pair of their shoes - and tell me if I am wrong.

I will no doubt try a pair one of these days when the given style matches my need. Strong feeling that DC has already forecasted when that need will be met below.

F, there is a strong possibility that we will be using shell cordovan in the future. I am a huge fan as well.

PS- I understand your hesitation with the origin as Logan and I were in the very same boat at the beginning of this venture. Let me encourage you to try out a pair and see them for yourself. I am almost certain that you will be overwhelmingly pleased.

I would have ZERO hesitation trying a pair. For the record I don't think the two of you need to do a whole lot of selling for all of us to praise dc to the high heavens. My 'soul' point is that I think there is a tremendous market for upsell based on country of production alone and a significant one at that.

In my current state of sartorial development Im just way too fixated on shell bluchers with the need for 'Classic sleek' at an all time low.

But I'd LOVE to be your lab rat when the line of horse's ass comes to bear [IMG]

Ps: I hope the inception of DC doesn't mean that rebel222222222222222222 has to bite his tongue and start being nice to errone.

Too late. David already gave me the be nice talk. Maybe I'll create my own code for when someone says something foolish. A covert smilie would be nice.

    hey spoo,
are these shoes as reddish as they appear in the pictures. I like the mottled look, but they look like they might be a bit too reddish for my tastes.

Definitely looking at a pair of porters.

They are on the reddish side. The closeup, legs crossed pic is closest to accurate...as iPhone accurate gets. [IMG]

Congratulations on the new venture. Unfortunately no room in the budget for next pair of shoes until year end, but very interested.

Will you be getting into retail stores?

Again, this type of criticism distracts from meaningful discussion. Clearly, these are not designed to compete with any sort of bench made-level shoe. I'm sure they could eliminate a lot of the hand finished details and slash the price to AE level, but what would be the appeal?

Dint even see this until polar quoted it.

....???? I think starting off with a plain brown cap would be the exact thing to NOT do. I won't get started on Carmina. All Im going to say is: 'meh.
