Hey,

My name is Stephen. I enjoy classic menswear. I'm a singer by trade. My passion outside of singing is fly-fishing. I've returned to school to get my M.M. Because I'm so far away from my home fishing-waters, I've started scouring the internet for finer menswear at a bargain as a hobby. The brands that I've come to appreciate the most in my wardrobe are Eton, Suitsupply and Eidos.

Hi everyone, I'm Doug, and I have been following career moves all over the planet for the last 20 years, in our Navy and in really fun jobs managing supply chains. I've always had a passion for high-quality clothing (it runs in the family, but for now I have more passion than real knowledge!).

After turning 50 I've decided to learn more so I can pursue that passion, and do something new! So I'm here to ask dumb questions (and listen, and explore) to learn what this business is really like. And, of course, just to enjoy the forum.

Two kids and a dog round out the family.... and a lot of good fortune and friends round out the life. So - onward!

Thanks for putting such a great resource out here.

Hey everyone,

I'm Yun. A 18 year old US college student from China, and I found this forum from researching quality shoemaker. I'm into classic menswear. I joined this fourm quite sometime (1 year?), and my first time posting an introduction. I finally found my direction on what shoemaker to purchase (Thanks to this fourm), right now I own trickers chukka, Carlos Santos tassel loafer, and Carmina semi brogue. My dream is to own a pair of bespoke shoes. Also, this fourm have helped me out with different style questions. I rarely post, but everytime gets great help from the fourm. Really love this fourm, and willing to study more about classic menswear.

Thank you for posting great sources for the people in need of help

Hey. I'm David. When I turned 40 I decided that it was time to look more like a gentleman, so I've been doing more research, lurking on blogs and forums, and trying to glean what I can since then. I think I have decent style, but I'm trying to refine it with better accessories, shoes, and new ideas. Thanks to all for this community.

yay! I'm new too!

woke up yesterday and realized i was old. so its about time to dress like a grownup. As my uniform has been dickies and white tee shirts for the last 20 years, i admittedly know exactly nothing about clothing. I do like whiskey and good boots- so maybe there is hope for me?

looking forward to learning a thing or two- the starter articles have been very helpful so far. especially the bit about proper fit. surprisingly hard to get right!

Hi everyone, I'm Mike and I'm new here, but I've been lurking for a while.

A little about me; I went from high school to the Army to the Police Academy. I wore a uniform of some sort almost every day of my life until I retired 10 years ago.

I was a stay at home dad with 3 boys for 10 years and 4 years ago I decided to go to school for accounting. I timed my graduation with my youngest starting full day kindergarten (big thanks to all of my professors who let me bring him to class when I couldn't get a babysitter).

I graduated and immediately got a job with a Big 4 firm...the only problem was that my wardrobe consisted of sweat pants, hoodies, gym shorts, sneakers and T-shirts, so I went out and bought an entire wardrobe.

Fast forward a year later and my shoes have holes in the soles and my shirts are threadbare.

So here I am, starting over and getting ideas on how to dress.

3 weeks ago I ordered a pair of Allen Edmonds bourbon McAllisters and wanted a dainite sole. I wasn't aware it would take this long for delivery, but I'm not upset.

Today I ordered a pair of dark chili AE Rogues from the Bank (a half size smaller on the recommendation of this site) and I'm looking at a pair of Higgins Mill in brown.

Anyway, looking forward to the advice I'm sure to get

Hey guys. my name's Matt. I'm a 30 year old English teaching. I've lived in a few different countries, but I'm currently working in South Korea. I've been into style ever since I was in my early 20's, but it's really been over the last few years that I've gotten serious about it. I honestly feel like dressing well is one of the best things a man can do for himself, and, as Tom Ford said, it's "a form of good manners".

Another of my big passions is fitness. I was really chubby growing up, but over the last few years I've cut over 50 pounds of fat. I'm currently 12 percent body fat, and I'm on a quest to really lean down and get to 8 percent, so you'll see me over in that section of the forum quite a bit. If there are any guys on there struggling with their weight and trying to get in shape, feel free to ask me any questions.

My name is Jarle, but I use the nick Cobber (mate). I am Norwegian, living in Norway with my wife, two kids, a cat and a dog. I have a Masters degree in IT communication, and a background from marketing, branding and graphic design.

I first heard about this site from a "style guy" at work. The purpose and the main goal will be to find my style. I am not a brand person, but I love quality products.

I meet customers at work, but in Norway we do not follow the international business clothing rule. Therefore I do not wear a suit, but something a bit more casual. At home I wear jeans and probably a boring sweater from an Orlando factory outlet.

Hello All,

Allow us to formally introduce ourselves to the community, and specifically here in this thread.

We’re Deo Veritas (www.deoveritas.com), a custom dress shirt maker based out of Chicago. We started our company with a simple premise, creating beautiful (yet affordable) dress shirts that fit perfectly.

Over the years we’ve observed, read, linked to, or contributed to a number of SF threads. As such, we value this community a great deal -- most importantly the knowledge and subject matter expertise that everyone willingly shares. We hope to continue contributing meaningfully throughout the site as a whole to end off 2016, and well into 2017.

Please do not hesitate to connect with us via email ([email protected]) or PM - regarding shirting or any other areas sartorially inclined.

Lastly, we wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season!

Best Regards,
Deo Veritas

G'day everyone, I'm from Brisbane, Australia.

I've recently lost a fair bit of weight and as a result I'm about to invest in a new wardrobe. I've been scouring the web for advice and ideas and my search led me to this forum.

I'm married with young children and work in education. My work wear up until now has been cheap cargo shorts and polos and I'm looking to go a bit more upscale. I'm finding it hard to find suitable clothing for a sub -tropical climate (air conditioning at work is sporadic).

Cheers

Welcome to the forum!

If you're looking for dress shirts, find lighter fabrics like poplins and linens that can keep you quite cool in a sub-tropical climate.
