    Hello SF,

I'm Dan from California. I've recently become interested in rugged, high quality clothing (vintage repros, I suppose [IMG]). I appreciate the way things like raw denim and good leather ages and lasts. I'm looking forward to participating in these forums.

    Greetings SF,

I am 41, married with a five year daughter. Very lucky to have a great job, a municipal lawyer, and reside in one of greatest city's in the world - San Francisco. I've made many good choices in life, however, selecting quality men's suits is not one of them. Sadly, it is a skill that I never learned, appreciated, or was taught. I am beginning the deliberate process of upgrading and replacing my work wardrobe with an eye towards timeless style and highest quality.

To that end, I've spent a great deal of time lurking about this site and others. Learning. SF is a classroom, populated with smart people that are willing to share their knowledge and frank opinions. I do appreciate it.

As a result of reading this site and sending PM's to folks, I know the style that I prefer and I can speak more intelligently then before. Now, I have the confidence to take the plunge and commission my first bespoke. I really want to learn the entire process, so I obtained some lovely Minnis fresco from Andrewrogers, identified a City tailor (Spoon), and I even want to buy the buttons (horn or corozo nut? Decent sore in the City, Britex Fabrics carries buttons). I'll chronicle the process on SF.

I know that it's a long process, and I'm older, but it is never too late, right?

    Hello All,

Few weeks ago I suddenly realized that I will need a sport coat. Now I'm addicted in buying them. I have also discovered a pile of other needs that I didn't know existed.

The most satisfactory purchases for me are the ones that can be expected to endure for years. In that regards the discussions on the forum are very helpful and very much welcome. The bad thing is that nowadays I find myself hanging on the forum maybe bit too much.

Besides sport coats a really appreciate good shoes. Not to mention the other things.

Hello. Swede here, 32, working in IT. Have had a latent interest in style/clothing/shoes/fashion for many years. The last few years I've been getting a new perspective on the whole thing, and nowadays the whole tension field between classic men's style, contemporary streetwear, punk/rock n' roll aesthetics etc fascinates me to no end.

I'm especially drawn to sustainable clothing/footwear, in the sense "made to last as long as possible, and look good despite the current trends", as opposed to "made to look good this season, and then fall apart". Combined with "hey, this completely weird thing somehow fits very well into the mix today, it didn't yesterday". Classic style vs Fashion, I guess.

Right now I'm very much into shoes of high quality. Will be lurking for shoe porn a lot.

Hey all - I'm 'needsmoreshoes' - speaks for itself I suppose.

I've always had a huge interest in style and shoes in particular but as a student I really don't have many opportunities to rampantly talk about style and so I decided to join here; where I hope I'll be able to change that.

As a student I'm really cash strapped and I'm still learning the 'style ropes' so I want to get my game in order so when I graduate and get a job (HAHAHA) I know exactly what to buy, where to buy it and how best to use it.

First item to buy upon having any serious money - Gonna get a pair of oxblood/ rosewood boots MTO by Gaziano & Girling. So far away....

    I like doughnuts.

I have a jorb, but need cloths to wear to said jorb (that actually fit me, and will last me a long time).

I am here because I have no idea what I'm doing.

First purchases: suit from Mr. Ned and a pair of black, toe-cap Aldens.

    Hi there,

as most people on this forum I have been lurking around for quite a long time before really joining. I am starting to hate the forum, as it has already taken its toll on my bank account(even more so as I am still a student). Still, I am quite happy with the recent deals I found in Frankfurt where I reside. ( A pair of John Lobbs, Crockett and Jones and couple of Zegna suits).

The message said to introduce yourself here, so I suppose I shall!

I'm Adam, you will find me all over the internet under AdamW, AdamWill and the like. I've been lurking around here for a bit, as I'm a firm believer that random people on internet forums can teach you everything you ever needed to know about anything at all.

I work from home for an extremely dress code-free software company. I also live in Vancouver, where high fashion is wearing a blue lumberjack shirt instead of a red one. Hence I have absolutely no legitimate reason to wear anything but a t-shirt and cheap jeans all day, but that gets boring after seven years or so, so these days I like to be one of the few, the proud, the hideously-overdressed-by-west-coast standards, some days at least (I think all the others are other SF members, so hi to the other besieged Vancouverites). Other days I wear the t-shirt and cheap jeans, as you can see from the avatar. Sorry about that. (For anyone who's never visited Vancouver, http://www.straight.com/article-614191/vancouver/vancouver-diners-leave-very-shabby-impression gives you an idea of what we're up against - see what happens when a visitor has the temerity to suggest that Vancouverites stop going to dinner dressed like they're going to their mailbox).

I've developed a healthy relationship with my tailor wherein I email him and plead to be allowed to donate him another tenth of a new car, tell him I want something sort of grey but not TOO grey, and he sends me some swatches. I pick one and tell him my latest ludicrous, probably drug-induced ideas for the cut, he politely explains why my ideas are ridiculous and he'll be ignoring them, and I happily acquiesce and send him a large cheque. It's great.

I'm a firm advocate of the vest, the good hat, and the pocket watch. So the guy in the three piece suit with the hat and the pocket watch, that'll be me. Say hi.

    Greetings from Europe (Sweden)!
I´m working within banking and finance and the dress code is adapted accordingly. Greatest interest is the mix of English and Italian tailoring, deconstructed shoulders, Loro Piano wool and goodyear welted constructed shoes.
And by the way I am a shoe fanatic ...
