I have an interview with the attorney general of my state regarding an undergraduate internship position this coming Friday. Unfortunately, I cannot find my tailored suit jacket anywhere. Yesterday, I bought a suit jacket from a department store, which fits well except for the sleeves being about an inch or so above my knuckles. I have called every tailor/dry cleaners in my vicinity and no one can shorten the sleeves by Friday. Do you think I should wear the ill fitting jacket or go without it?

A jacket without matching pants is a sport jacket, not a suit jacket. I'm a government lawyer and I don't necessarily expect an undergrad intern to wear a jacket to the interview although it doesn't hurt. What would you wear instead?

I brought the pants with me to the department store and found a jacket that matched them perfectly. If I shouldn't wear it though, I would just wear the grey dress pants, a white shirt, and a tie.

I'd keep on the prowl for a better jacket and try to find one. If not, I would at least add a v-neck sweater with your tie and shirt. Just something to not walk in naked on top

Do you have a solid colored crew or v-neck sweater? Black or navy would work well.

Yeah, slap a navy v-neck on top and you should be fine.

I am going to return the jacket today and grab a v neck. Thanks for the replies!

How important is full vs half canvas to you for heavier sport jackets?
