Any recommendations on programs that will allow me to fax from my desktop? I've seen a few, seem to be similar to stamps.com in terms of the business model, however I have no need to pay $10 a month because I don't send many faxes. I just need to capability to send one when I need to.

Thanks.

I've been using Trustfax for a few years now. They have a $30/year subscription that does what I need. It used to be cheaper, but if you only fax occassionally, it's not a bad deal.

I tried several services either early this year, or late last year. None of them seemed to work properly. I really liked the idea of a toll free fax number for myself, and disconnecting my land line (the primary reason I still have one). However, I could not get anything to work correctly.

I've had a home fax for god, 15 years or so. The bastards are handy.

I just offer to email recipients scans of the documents, which I take with my point and shoot digital camera and not an actual scanner.

I've used eFax's free service to receive scans. That works pretty well.

God I hate faxing.
