I'm sure a few of you have seen this article. Interesting nevertheless. It is making me want to grab a pair of beaten up Church's and send them off and see how they return.

Do you think it'd be worth it? Or simply that this editor got preferential treatment because he told them he was going to do an article about the result.

Well, as a shoemaker I could mention one thing: If you have your old shoe, and you replace:

vamp, lining, insole, heel (inclusind the whole heel block), sole, stiffners - do you recognise what do you keep? Only the toe. So you save only one piece of leather, and you work more than you would make a new pair. So: change everything, and get a new pair!
