Thomas is back from America and has written about his trip at his blog, in his usual entertaining way.

However, the entry ends with this comment:

"Also, many thanks to my friend Steven Hitchcock [a very talented, young Savile Row tailor], who kindly warned me about a rather odd individual, an American customer, who's been making life harder than it should be for us tailors. I know customers watch us tailors, and talk about both us and our work with each other. Luckily, we tailors do the same with our customers."

Does he speak of 'the one who shall not be mentioned'? And why does this end up on the web - he must have know that his readers could read between the lines. Otherwisek, he would have made do with an email to Steven.

The plot thickens....

I picked up on this too ...

Seems as if Thomas is trying to give a warning to this ominous American ...

Yes, I would guess he refers to the one who shall not be mentioned... That's what I thought immediately when reading the email, and then exclaimed in disbelief, "naaaah, couldn't be..." --- buuuut.......

Different Marc. The one who shall not be mentioned has appeared under several pseudonyms and, I believe, is currently banned.

I think it's Manton, with all his rules making it hard for tailors who just want to be free to make black suits.

Look, all I said to the guy was, if he made me a free suit, I would sing his praises on the Internet. If not, I would hound him to the end of his days. I really don't see what his beef is.

That seems perfectly cool to me. Tailors just need to get with the 21st Century. E-commerce is run by swag.

"Grayson" does have a history with Hitchcock. That was a while ago, but perhaps he has recently tried to make contact with Mahon.

I think that I like you a lot more right now. Don't get the wrong idea though.
