SOLD! What can you tell me about this tie? Any collectors interested in it? How much is it worth? How old is it? The pattern is "Doghouse" and features a repeating motif of doghouses with bone in front, crossed (field?) hockey sticks, playing card with hearts and pint of beer on a black background. Reminiscent of Band of Outsiders, IMHO. I believe Dolce & Gabbana did something similar to this - picture of scantily clad woman hidden on back of blade. The label says, "Created by craftsmen for Walter Osborn - 49 Villiers Street; Charing Cross, London WC2" and another two labels read, "Doghouse - Registered No. 903699" and "Made from Terylene Polyester ICI". Tie is 2 1/2" wide.

And I found this picture of the Walter Osborn shop where this tie was purchased. Anybody know if the shop is still there or when it closed? Did anyone ever visit this shop? What was it like?

I would pay quite a bit if the girl was more... attractive.

I do like the concealed girl, but don't like the design on the tie.

I think Paul Smith also did these sorts of things.

Just kidding! So, is the consensus that it is from the 1940s? Thank you to all who have chimed in thus far.

Late to the party. I quite like the D&G ones, there was one that was quite nice in its own right. There's a seller on ebay with a few, but the nicest one (in my opinion) has been sold already.

Thanks, chobosquared! But are you referring to mine pictured above? It hasn't sold yet... because I wasn't sure of its value... I'm guessing mine is around 60 years old? I'd like to sell it but just don't know its value. Would I be shooting myself in the foot if I let it go for $25 shipped? I see two D&G ones on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Swank-DOLCE-GABB...QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/Swank-DOLCE-GABB...QQcmdZViewItem

I think you're absolutely correct! Makes much more sense than field hockey sticks...

And the Doghouse Tie has sold for a princely sum... thank you all for your insight.
