Intentionally and Selectively Shrinking Wool Sweater?

I have some of the S&M sweaters that fit me well for the most part. They seem to be a bit wide in the neck area for me, though. Was wondering if intentionally shrinking a sweater in certain areas is a thing, and if so, how people go about it. Was perhaps thinking of using cold water from a spray bottle over and around the neck, and then using a hair dryer on that area?

Trying to shrink a sweater is an incredibly tricky and unpredictable thing. The physics of fabric shrinkage is not anything exact.

if the sweater in question is otherwise unwearable then I’d say give it a try. Otherwise, go into it with the realization that it’s already ruined.
