Innovative ideas for Morning Trousers?

I posted this once before and a had a couple of ideas. I'd like to do something a little different for my morning trousers for my wedding. I'm wondering if people have any suggestions that are still formal (I don't want to ignore tradition, just add some uniqueness, and perhaps get a pair of trousers I can wear more often).

So, how would you add a mild touch of flair to your morning trousers?

Historically there were more patterns than just stripes, like houndstooth or glencheck. You can google for images. However, it would be a fine line choosing a fabric that would work in another context.

A bold glen check would be a great twist. Would look equally good with a morning coat and a sport coat.
