Inner Coat Pocket Construction

What is the difference if any with suits with inner pockets of the two types below: 1.

This is not necessarily always the case with pockets that look like the first image though. Cheaper ones may have had the pocket put straight through the lining, but better coats will have the pocket through an extension to the facing, as in the second image, but then the lining felled close to the edge of the pocket so that it look like the first image.

I believe that the RLPL shown in the first image is done the more expensive way; although I can't tell if it's felled around the pocket edge it does look like the lining is felled to the facing, rather than being machined as would be the case with a cheap coat. And of course there's the fact that it's RLPL, so obviously not cheap.

Given this assumption, the lining would be just as easy to change on both the given examples so choosing between them would be entirely personal preference.

got it. so not much of a difference as far as construction alone except for the rare occurrence that you'd need your lining replaced.
