Hello,
I'm curious if anyone could give me further information (ie season/sizing - designer size 2 = 36?) about the Thom Brown suit (now sold) found in this link:

http://www.yoox.com/item.asp?cod10=490015431T

I've seen Thom Browne's suits on the rack and followed the debate over his sleeve and trouser length decisions. I'm intrigued by this particular suit because from the image it doesn't appear to look ill-proportioned, though who knows what it's like in person. Thank you!

The jacket is too short. Granted the picture shows unhemmed trousers, but still. The proportions are only right if you have teeny tiny short legs.

When I tried on Thom Browne, a size 2 seemed to be my size. I normally wear a 38. They didnt have a size 3 for me to compare but the 2 did fit just right. And the jacket is cut shorter deliberately, but it's definitely not "too short".

His stuff is cut real fitted so if you're used to a looser feel, be prepared to feel like you're wearing a straight jacket.

TB's suits, like that one, are fashionably short and high waisted. Take that for what it's worth.

If you do buy this suit, have it hemmed so there is at most a whisper of break in the trousers.

I actually don't mind Browne suits now that I see they're constructed well and can fit correctly, length wise. A nice feature I noted is how the lapels curve on the chest like some vintage suits I've seen.

Thank you all for your input! Here are my thoughts after receiving the suit. As expected, the suit is very well constructed. There are nice little details, the pants are fully lined (though I'm not so keen on that), the fabric is lovely in person, etc. Unfortunately, I'm swimming in it. I'm a fairly true Italian size 46, the suit is a Thom Browne 2 and fits a lot like a US 38. The pants are unhemmed, high waisted, and have a cinch back. The jacket, albiet too large, seemed much boxier than I expected. This suit is marked Fall 2004 Colette on the interior label. Needless to say it's going back to Yoox and I need to stop buying things on a whim online as they never fit like I hope they will.

ooh.. so YOU were the one who bought it. I was going to buy it at the next markdown, but before I could see the new price, you had snatched it up.

Good thing though, as I'm a true 46 as well, and it would have been far too big for me. I thought that perhaps Browne had a sizing scheme that reflected his customers, where 1 might be a 44, 2 is a 46, and 3 is a 48, etc. I see YOOX was a bit off on this one (equating a 46 to a 2).

Sorry about that, slow work day and it was hard to resist at $330, but these online 'risks' never seem to pay off for me. The only things I end up keeping are things I actually tried on in person. I'm probably going to reach the "alright that's enough Mr Gusterson, no more returns for you" point with Yoox very soon.

Already en route back - long leisurely lunch trying it on then walking right over to the UPS Store.

Well, as soon as they get it back...it'll go right back up for sale, probably at the next markdown price. Unfortunately, it'll still be too big for you.
