Does anyone know what could be the fabric (or, properties of the fabric) of the guy's suit in the following video (starting 00:01:57)? It looks simple, sharp, and with a clean drape. It would suit me will in my working environment. Thanks in advance.

The camera is too far to be able to tell much. It is a plain navy solid fabric. I don’t think there is anything unusual about it; a plain navy worsted fabric should behave like this. Instead of paying attention to the fabric, you should pay attention to the fit of the jacket. Body and sleeve hang cleanly without tightness.

Thanks for the response; it is indeed difficult to tell the details. Fit is certainly an issue and I'll take note. Nevertheless, I'm wondering whether we can still say that the fabric is likely to have a high (or low) super number to achieve the effect? Or a travel fabric would have effects close to this? Or these are totally irrelevant?

the super number won't make a big difference. Avoid linen and cotton as these will wrinkle more. This looks most like a plain worsted 100% wool fabric to me, no more and no less. Honestly, it does not look like a particularly unusual jacket to me.

Thanks again for the info.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
