Hello all. I recently separated from the military and I plan on going to medical school before long. However, I will be shadowing some doctors and I want to look professional. Today I went to Jos A Bank and purchased a Signature line suit for $240. It's a navy blue 2-button with flat front pants.

Anyways, I now need to think about buying some nice, quality shoes, but for a cheap price. I would like to spend no more than about $180. I also need to buy a belt, tie, and shirt as well, but I don't think I'll have a problem with those items. I do not like the mass-produced, glued on shoes that are so prevalent...if I had the money I'd get Allen Edmonds. Is there a company that makes shoes like AEs for a lesser price? If so, tell me!

Check out the AE store on ebay. Seconds can be had for less than $180. Or AE has come out with a line for about $200: AE for Allen Edmonds. I haven't seen them on the AE website, but the Nordstrom site has a few models.

Spend a little more and get a pair of AEs. On sale they're, what, about $240? The extra $60 is definitely worth it.

I agree.

I had a difficult time justifying spending $260 on a pair of shoes about 10 years ago when they had been marked down from close to $500. 10 years later I am still wearing them and plan to do so for another 10. I have one pair of AEs and they have been worn regularly for about 5 years and look great.
