I'm in Boston and would like some advice for an inexpensive first suit for interviews. Which stores and brands would you recommend? I've searched the forums but couldn't find much information for my location.

Here are my requirements.
  • Less than 400.
  • Has to fit well. I'm 23 and am on the more slender side at 5' 10", 145lbs
  • Available for purchase within this week. I can alter it later.
  • I can go to Boston or Wrentham

I'm not a fan of disposable clothing like Zara because I feel that I can get something that is better quality at the same price.

i go to a tailor in downtown boston and he has a nice selection of suits to choose from right in the store as well. PM me if you want more info.

Interested in this as well. Also located in Boston.

I know of the tailor at Harvard Press, but their suites off the rack are more conservative -- boxy and not slim fitting, which is what I want. I'm sure he could tailor a suit to be more slim-fitting, though.

You could try J.Crew Copley with a 15% student discount. Although I would put them in the "disposable clothing" category that you mentioned. $400 is a tough price-point to meet to be honest. Brooks Brothers (Newbury & Berkeley) Fitzgerald suits are of decent quality but will be closer to $800. Maybe Z Zegna at Saks in the Pru.
