Not really, ever seen Run DMC?

funny, ran into DMC at Blue in Green a couple days ago.

anyways, certain shoes are supposed to look dirty, certain shoes are not.

air force ones and other chunky nike shoes are meant to be clean and white.

vans, chuck taylors and other skinny "rocker" shoes look better with some wear and tear.

in my opinion, air max and sb's can be worn clean or dirty.

BTW, i can't believe that no one knew about the clear packing tape on the inside of the jean cuff trick (i prefer it over masking tape). solves your problems right there.

Would a bleaching solution take care of it? I suppose it might hurt the shoe depending on what type it was. I was thinking 30% peroxide would do the trick if you were careful not to get it on yourself.

As for APCs, there are a bunch of washing instructions so if you decide to pre-soak the damn bastards in hot water, you'll notice a bunch of indigo dye to come out in the first process. Repeat process with cold water and then hang to dry.

As for my APCs, I wear them all the time with my white slipons and have noted no staining. You should be ok with the APCs after the initial hot wash.

wouldn't a small cuff at the bottom also prevent bleeding?

To end all debates, look at the sneakers the rock/punk icons of the past wore. All beat up to a degree.

Not all of us emulate rock/punk icons. I might wear something based on that but that's not the look i aim for. Which means i have to take everything in this forum with a grain of salt.

As a rule of thumb, canvas shoes look good worn in, white leather shoes much less so. They just start to look crappy, like the kid in PE class whose parents just won't get him a new pair.

I wore in my (black) Chuck Taylors when I was dating a girl whose parents own a farm. A solid weekend of fence-building and cow-herding, and never washed since!! (The girlfriend is long gone. The Chucks live on.)

Instead of using tape around the inside opening of the leg, get a bandana, fold it up, and stitch it on. Remove it when you feel it's not bleeding as much anymore.

I heard about this idea once while I was on the bus. The girl next to me just kept talking about it. Not a bad idea, but she was annoying.

I vote for the leave the blue on the white shoes and show people you have a life and don't obsess about clothing trivia.

Cold soak or warm with jeans inside out - distilled vinegar added to the 1st rinse ( 2-3 rinses total )
Then when you hang them to dry - use the hangers with clips and hang them " upside down " by the cuffs ... That way the indigo can run away from the cuffs more ..
Not the TOTAL solution but it still works well ..
