What's the difference in the Incotex made in country? I've seen Italy, Romania and Portugal. Any quality differences?

My limited experience is:

The Made in Italy is usually for the Sartoriale and other vendor stuff (Zegna, Burberry, Zileri etc) and almost always for wool pants. The waistbands and pockets have better finishing, the fabrics are better, overall I don't think you can really tell a big difference in construction from the Portugal stuff but they do cost more.

The Made in Portugal is the majority of the cotton and wool stuff you'll find (Formale line and whatever the third line is called). I've seen Made in Portugal wool pants with the same exact fabric as the more expensive Sartoriale made in Italy line. They are not finished as nicely but again, the differences are not that major. Keep in mind that Portugal is known as the pants capital of the world, and for good reason.

As for the Made in Romania, I've only seen the heavier twill cotton pants. The interior seams seem to be a little more crudely finished. In these type of cotton pants, the construction and finishing can probably be less refined without anyone caring or noticing. I'm sure Incotex is saving money getting them done there. Keep in mind that Romania is known as the three-legged dog capital of the world, and for good reason.

I second the above remarks. The older Incotex trousers were also Made in Italy until production was shifted to Portugal and Romania between three to five years ago. Quality is still good, but probably not consumate with the $295 starting price point.

At my local NM they're trying to sell Incotex cords for $595, laughable.

I think those are the Incotex "CashCords" (92 cotton / 8 cashmere).

There is a likelihood that they will make an appearance on the buying selling forum for considerably less

I figured. Last month I was wondering around NM and happened upon a man that was shelling out unseen gobs of moneyfor these "cashcords", like 6 pair. I wanted to slap the **** out of him.

He was probably one of those tax and spend, rich Northeastern liberals.

That's what I always want to do to people who spend more than $30K on a car

Then I say to myself "WTF do I care what they spend on cars/clothes/shoes/electronics/etc., it's their money, right?"

In Italy, the 3-ply cotton twill chinos sold at, e.g., Principe are still made in Italy, but the finishing is almost identical to those made in Portugal.

Hey guys,

can someone tell me where these slacks were made? The lining is top notch, but there is no fit label or made in tag. Only a size tag and the tags in the back pocket.
