Inconspicous tie-bars

Holding a gentleman's tie in place during a long day of work is always a challenge. I was wondering what the forum members consider to be the most inconspicous way of tacking a tie in place. I own some Tiffany 14k tie-bars but they shout bling-bling from afar and a gentleman should be inconspicous.

Just clip it below the buttoning point of your jacket. That way it doesn't show until you sit down to eat and then performs the function of keeping your tie out your soup.

I have a 14k tie bar handed down to me from my great grandpa, it is an engine turned style with his monogram on it. I dont think it's anything but subtle honestly, though I rarely wear a tie bar.

I prefer a pie tin over a tie pin any day. Just hang it from a string worn around your neck on the outside of your tie. Your tie never gets dirty that way.
