I would guess that it's generally the case that as we age our sartorial awareness grows and with some good fortune our salaries grow too. So as we reach the point of diving into the bespoke pool and commissioning a beautifully well fitting suit, has anyone ever then taken their RTW clothes to have them patterned after the bespoke commission, or is this the time to start culling from the RTW side of the wardrobe to make room for more bespoke commissions?

I am reluctant to let go of quite a few of my RTW jackets and suits due to colour, fabric etc. that would be really hard to find in swatches, but the fits can be a loooong way behind what I am enjoying from bespoke.

Very few tailors would/could re-make your RTW clothing to a new pattern. They may however alter them to the best of their ability in order to make them more useable.

Personally I don't see the point of getting rid or re-tailoring your old RTW provided (a) it fits well and (b) you enjoy wearing it. I've kept all my old RTW except for pieces that I no longer enjoy... Besides unless you're exceptionally well off, I doubt that it would be possible to replace everything in your RTW wardrobe with bespoke items quickly...Re-tailoring also does not seem like an optimal use of resources; why not just put that money towards new bespoke commissions?
