Recently started watching Man in the High Castle and noticed all the Germans were wearing black leather trench coats. Now no, I don't wanna be a Nazi, I just love the style of those coats, however all the ones I've found are low quality Amazon grade.
Do you guys know of any good ones, I don't wanna spend a ton, that'll hold up to everyday use, including weather (such as the occasional rain). Preferably no more than $150

Here's an example of the specific style I want:

(Obviously the second on is really cheap, I'm just shows the look I like)

I don't want anything like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Double-Breas...wicXNhIjoiOC40OCIsInFzcCI6IjcuODEifQ==&sr=8-5

It must be a black leather, nothing else

Thanks guys!!

I'm pretty sure this is a terrible idea for obvious reasons. By the way a new one in real leather from any half decent brand would cost like 10x your budget at least, so your only option is vintage, which makes this even worse an idea.

Even though I can see the charm of such a garment, I think that it would look good only with a uniform. It's very little versatile and hardly suitable as an everyday trenchcoat. Moreover, as already stated, if you want an even passable quality, your budget would be highly unsufficient.

Oh ok, I never knew they were that expensive. I've seen the ones that are $2k+ but I just figured those are "designer" just like how I could also get a super overpriced pair of jeans

Haha, I know, but I live in a small town, so I'm not too worried about it
Long leather trench coats were definitely a thing in the 60’s & 70’s, particularly in big cities and often among minority communities. The most famous example is probably John Shaft’s long trench coat.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
