I'm currently wearing a light grey suit that has a herringbone pattern with a small brown thread with a brown/blue striped tie.

Cross-post from the Tweed Appreciation thread...
Just had a suit made in Glenroyal. In real life, the brown is a very dark chocolate with a purple windowpane.

Awesome...looks like a suit from Boardwalk Empire!

That looks highly appropriate for Scottish academia! Who is the tailor?

^^That's a suit? :nodding:

The trousers are hanging on the rail, so may not be obvious in the photograph. :tounge: I plan on wearing the jacket and trousers as separates, too.

This was my fourth outing with gshen's tailor from Singapore. PM for details...

Brown experts... I need help pairing shoes with my dark brown trousers. The trou are flannel if that helps. I plan on pairing them with a light blue shirt and navy v-neck sweater. (casual Friday) Do i wear my burgundy wingtips? My dark brown suede derbys? My chocolate brown cap-brogues? Or my lighter brown (almost olivesh) whole cuts?

In my opinion, you pick the pair that is either 1) closet in color to the pants or 2) provides the most contrast - depending on what you like. Sometimes, when brown shoes and brown pants are off just a bit, it can look kind of funny.

Since the pants are flannel, you also want a heavier shoe - probably the wingtips or suede derbys.
